The spiritual or Overmental transformation is the second of the three transformations which constitute the objective of Sri Aurobindo's yoga. Sri Aurobindo's siddhi of November 24, 1926 established the overmental consciousness and personality in his material physical. In this passage from The Life Divine, Sri Aurobindo describes the possibilties of what he calls "the overmind change" and its limitations and the consequent transition leading to the third or supramental transformation. more »

At the end of Book Seven of Savitri, also known as the Book of Yoga, the protagonist of the epic (i.e. Savitri) reaches the culmination of the Overmental transformation. This last canto of Book Seven is titled "The Discovery of the Cosmic Spirit and the Cosmic Consciousness." Here we carry the ending passage of that Canto, describing the fullness of the Cosmic or Overmental change in Savitri and her passage to the Supermind. more »

Sri Aurobindo had the realization of Krishna as the immanent Divine in all things while at Alipur Jail in 1908. On 24 November 1926 Sri Krishna fixed himself in Sri Aurobindo's body as the culmination of the Overmental descent and transfromation of Sri Aurobindo. Of Sri Krishna, Sri Aurobindo once said to a disciple, "There is no difference between me and Krishna." more »
